Ayden Gutierrez joined the Marist University football coaching staff in the winter of 2026. The 2026 season will mark his first as the Red Foxes’ tight ends coach.
Prior to his arrival at Marist, Gutierrez’s most recent stop was at the University of Akron from 2024-25. He served as an offensive graduate assistant who worked with the team’s wide receivers under head coach Joe Moorhead. He helped produce three All Mid-American Conference wide receivers in back-to-back seasons, while the team’s offense ranked in the conference’s top five in total yards per game and passing yards per game. In the 2025 season, he was a part of an offense that produced a quarterback and running back that finished in the conference’s top three in passing yards per game and rushing yards per game, respectively.
Gutierrez played collegiately at Grove City College as a quarterback from 2020-23. In 2023, he served as team captain for Grove City’s first undefeated regular season in the program’s history, which spans over a century. During that season, Grove City won the school’s first ever NCAA playoff game, along with its first President’s Athletic Conference championship in over 20 seasons. Gutierrez also served as a team chaplain.
Gutierrez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Grove City College in December of 2023, and he received his Master of Science in Sport Science/Coaching from the University of Akron in December of 2025.
Gutierrez is a native of Morrisdale, Pennsylvania.
