Jake Dembow is in his 10th year on Marist's coaching staff. He was promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2019 season. A four-year starter on the Marist offensive line in his playing career, Dembow will also be in his eighth year as offensive line coach.
As offensive line coach, Dembow has had five of his pupils - Ben Johnson (2021), Rich Duncan-Murphy (2017), Ryan Schneider (2016), Mike Mangino (2015), and Sean Foley (2015) - earn Second Team All-Pioneer Football League honors. Mangino concluded his career by starting every game in his four seasons, a feat also accomplished by Dembow in his Marist playing career.
In 2018, center Dan Wittekind became one of four players in head coach Jim Parady's tenure to be named captain prior to his senior year. Wittekind has started every game in his career through his first three seasons as well.
In the 2013-14 seasons, Dembow coached the team’s running backs. In this time, Atiq Lucas earned second team (2013) and honorable mention (2014) All-PFL honors. In Marist’s PFL championship season of 2013, Dembow’s position group was responsible for 1,339 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.
Dembow came back to Poughkeepsie following one season as assistant defensive line coach at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. During his time with the Jumbos, Dembow assisted in various facets of defensive game planning, on-field instruction, video coordinating and day-to-day football operations.
Prior to Tufts, Dembow spent three seasons abroad as player-coach for football clubs in Denmark and Norway. In 2012, Dembow played and coached for the AFC Show in Stavanger, Norway. He served as a two-way lineman and helped the team to a playoff berth in its first season competing in Norway’s elite division.
In 2010 and 2011, Dembow played both offensive and defensive line for the Aarhus Tigers in Aarhus, Denmark. In these two seasons, he helped the team not only gain promotion to the country’s top league, but return to the post-season for the first time since 2000. In addition to his playing responsibilities, Dembow served as an assistant coach for both the senior and youth teams in the Tigers organization.
Following his undergraduate career at Marist, Dembow returned to his hometown of Merrimack, NH and began coaching at Merrimack High School, from where he was a 2005 graduate. This came after two stints playing arena football as an offensive lineman during the spring and summer of 2009.
Dembow is a 2009 graduate of Marist, where he studied history and adolescent education. He was an offensive lineman for the Red Foxes, starting all 44 of the team’s games from 2005-08. An All-MAAC honoree in 2007, Dembow served as team captain in 2008 and was selected to play in the East Coast Bowl following that season. Dembow earned several academic accolades in his career, as he was named an FCS Academic All-Star, was a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, a national semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy, and a two-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection. He received his Master’s degree in educational psychology from Marist in 2015.
