The 2025 season will mark John O'Connor's second as a member of the Marist football staff. After serving as the Red Foxes' tight ends coach in 2024, O'Connor was promoted to offensive line coach ahead of the 2025 season.
In 2024, O'Connor served as position coach for Jackson Conners-McCarthy, who was named an Honorable FCS Mention All-American, and was named a Freshman All-American by STATS Perform and Phil Steele Publications. Conners-McCarthy led the Red Foxes in receptions (50) and receiving yards (441) in 2024.
From 2021-23, O’Connor served as a graduate assistant with the University of Massachusetts of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). He worked with the tight ends in the 2021 season, and shifted to the offensive line starting in the spring of 2022.
As an undergraduate, O’Connor served as a student assistant coach at UMass for three seasons, beginning with the spring of 2018. He worked with the offensive staff with a primary focus on the team’s tight ends.
O’Connor earned his Bachelor’s in Communication from UMass in 2021, and his Master’s in Higher Education in 2024.
