Kevin Johnson

Recruiting Areas: New York City (except for Staten Island), New York State Section 1 & Section 9

Kevin Johnson is in his first season as special teams coordinator/running backs coach at Marist in the 2024 season.
 
Johnson spent the 2023 season as a graduate assistant at Iowa. He worked with the Hawkeyes’ wide receivers and helped the team with the Big 10 West Division title and advance to the Citrus Bowl.
 
Johnson previously worked at Florida Atlantic as a special teams analyst for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Johnson’s coaching career began at Arkansas, where he worked with running backs and special teams in 2020.

Johnson played quarterback collegiately at Richmond (2015-18) and Western Illinois (2019). His first collegiate start came in the 2016 FCS playoffs, when he threw for 315 yards in a victory over North Carolina A&T. In the 2018 season, he threw for 1,302 yards and five touchdowns while making six starts. In four games at Western Illinois, he threw six touchdown passes.
 
In his scholastic career, Johnson was a three-sport athlete (football, track & field, basketball) at Pace Academy in Atlanta. He was a four-time First Team All-Region selection at quarterback who was named First Team All-State as a senior, and he set career records at Pace for passing yards and touchdown passes. At Pace, hh played for his father, who is the offensive coordinator/offensive line coach. In track, Johnson was a member of the 4 X 400 relay team that won a state champion. In basketball, he was a senior leader of a region champion and Elite Eight finalist.
 
Johnson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Richmond. He is a native of Brooklyn, New York.
