Will Blakey was hired as Assistant Strength & Conditioning/Head Football Performance Coach at Marist University in August of 2026.
Blakey comes to Marist from Saint John’s University in Minnesota, where he was part of the football program’s strength & conditioning staff while also serving as the running backs coach and co-special teams coordinator. He served in these roles for a year-and-a-half, which included Saint John’s reaching the third round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs in 2025.
In the summer of 2026, Blakey served as a football strength & conditioning intern at Texas Tech University, where he gained experience at the Power Four level and assisted with the team’s summer strength & conditioning program.
From 2016-22, Blakey served in the United States Air Force as a maintenance operations controller and avionics technician, while also serving as a unit Physical Training Leader. During this time, he completed multiple overseas deployments.
Blakey started his collegiate football career at Portland State before transferring to Saint John’s, where he ran for 446 yards and 10 touchdowns.
