Drew Metz is in his fourth season on the Marist men's basketball staff in 2024-25.
Metz joined the Marist men's basketball program as Director of Basketball Operations in June of 2021. He was promoted to assistant coach in June of 2022, and was promoted to the #2 spot on staff in the summer of 2024..
In the summer of 2023, Metz was recognized by Silver Waves Media on its list of "75 Rising Stars: Impactful Men's Mid-Major Assistants."
Metz helped the Red Foxes earn a berth in the MAAC Championship final for the first time in program history in the 2022-23 season, as the Red Foxes won three games in the conference tournament.
For five years before his arrival at Marist, Metz has worked as an assistant coach at Long Island Lutheran High School while serving as program director and 17U coach of the New York Jayhawks AAU program. He helped lead Long Island Lutheran to the state Class AA Federation championship in 2019, and a Top-25 ranking each of the last four years. With the Jayhawks, he oversaw the recruitment process for over 50 student-athletes.

Metz earned both his Bachelor's (2014) and Master's (2016) degrees from St. John's University in Sports Management. He worked as a manager and administrative assistant for the Red Storm's men's basketball program from 2011-15 under head coach Steve Lavin.

Metz's experiences have allowed him to build solid relationships, develop a thorough understanding of program operations, and develop a strong comprehension of NCAA compliance rules.
