Will Lanier is entering his third season as an assistant coach on Chuck Martin's staff, and his fifth year with the program. In his first two seasons on staff, Lanier served as Director of Men's Basketball Operations on Chuck Martin's staff. In his current role, Lanier is involved heavily in on-the-road recruiting and on-the-floor coaching.

Prior to his arrival at Marist, Lanier spent four seasons on the staff of St. John's University in the Big East Conference. He served the 2006-08 seasons full-time on staff after working as a graduate assistant from 2004-06. His responsibilities at St. John's included the coordination and editing of game film, scouting video, coordinating team travel and assisting with all day-to-day operations. Lanier also served as Co-Director of the Norm Roberts Summer Basketball Camp, where he played an integral role in having enrollment more than double from under 300 in 2005 to over 600 in 2006. The number reached over 700 in 2007. Lanier also ran St. John's Team Camp, which hosted 32 local high school teams. While at St. John's, he received his master's degree in school building leadership in the school of education.

As an undergraduate, Lanier attended Georgia Tech, where he received a B.S. in business management in 2004. In his time at Georgia Tech, Lanier served as head manager on head coach Paul Hewitt's staff. The Yellow Jackets reached the national championship game in 2004 and compiled a 28-10 record.

Lanier also worked at Georgia Tech's youth basketball camps as an undergraduate. He was also an intern at IMG Sports Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
