Prior to Marist: McKendry made 256 saves in his high school career to earn the U.S. Lacrosse All-American distinction twice. He was a two-time Big 8 All-Conference, First Team East Region, and First Team All-State recipient. He helped lead Cardinal Gibbons to two state championships. Academically, McKendry was a member of the National Honor Society and named a North Carolina Scholar.
