Erin Leger is in her eighth season as assistant coach of the Marist women's basketball team. She continues to serve as the program's recruiting coordinator as well as making team travel arrangements and coordinates the team's community service projects. After working primarily with the Red Foxes' post players, Leger began working alongside Assistant Coach Alisa Kresge with the team's guards in the 2011-12 season.
Under Leger's guidance, the Red Foxes led the MAAC in blocked shots (4.1 per game) and defensive rebounds (27.5 per game) in 2010-11. The previous two seasons, Marist ranked second in those two categories. Additionally, Marist led the conference in rebounding margin last season at +1.9.
Leger was the active member on the Marist coaching staff that helped bring the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and the women's basketball program together. In April 2010, the team adopted Nina Triplo from Stone Ridge, N.Y., welcoming her to the Red Fox family. The foundation seeks to improve the quality of life for those affected by pediatric brain tumors.
From 2002-05, Leger was a walk-on guard who appeared in 12 games, made two MAAC All-Academic teams and was one of the Red Foxes' most popular players. An accurate long-distance shooter, Leger hit the first two shots she attempted in her collegiate career, both of which were three-pointers. During her senior season, she joined the coaching staff as an assistant, and in her first season with the squad, Marist finished with 23 victories, the highest win total in school history at the time.
Leger attended Holy Cross High School in Connecticut, where she played four years of varsity volleyball and basketball. In basketball, Leger became the school's all-time leader in three-pointers made and helped the squad earn a berth in the state championship game in 2002.
Leger earned her bachelor's degree from Marist in 2006 and her master's in 2008 in Psychology.
