Prior to Marist:Â Afflitto attended Pequannock Township High School in Pequannock, New Jersey where she played as a four year varsity starter as well as leading the state and high school in assists her senior year. Afflitto was selected for NJ Girls Soccer Coaches Association Recognition, All County Girls Soccer recipient, NJAAC First Team All-Conference recipient, and Morris County Honorable Mention as both a sophomore and Junior. Kayla was a member of Peer Leaders, Operation Smile, as well as being involved in honors and AP courses. Kayla was a recipient of The Suburban Women's Club Honorary Student. She was also a forward and midfielder on her club team, NJ Stallions where they placed two years in a row in Disney Showcase, Jefferson Cup, and PDA.
