Paul Vink-Lainas

Entering his fourth year with the Red Foxes, Paul Vink-Lainas brings a veteran presence to the team with an abundance of experience at the club, college and national levels.

During his tenure at Marist, players have earned success both on and off the court winning 2 All-Conference, 1 All-Tournament, 2 All-Rookie and 28 All-Academic MAAC Awards and compiling a 23-13 MAAC conference record.

Prior to Marist, Vink-Lainas has brief stint as an assistant coach with The College of Saint Rose.  Before that, as head coach with The 518 Volleyball Club and CD Select, he directed teams to three straight IREVA u18 Boys Regional Championships.  Vink-Lainas started his coaching career as the Men’s Club Coach at his alma mater, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

In addition to coaching, Vink-Lainas is an accomplished Volleyball player and referee.  As a referee he has held both USAV and PAVO National ratings, working MAAC, America East, Patriot, and Ivy Conferences and the US Open.  As a player, Vink-Lainas represented the Adirondack Region at the Empire State Games and won a Regional Championship with the RPI team.

Vink-Lainas is a graduate of RPI, where he earned an MBA and a BS in Computer and Systems Engineering. He is a father of two, Liisi and Erik, and lives in Wynantskill, NY with his wife Susan.
