Shara da Silva joins Marist volleyball as an assistant coach under head coach Annie DeLoid in 2026.
A native of Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil, da Silva began her collegiate career at Tyler Junior College, where she helped lead the Apaches to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA National Championship and a Region XIV Championship. During her time at Tyler, she earned All-Conference honors as both a freshman and sophomore, was named All-Region as a sophomore, and led the team with 145 blocks during her second season. She graduated from Tyler with a degree in psychology.
Da Silva continued her playing career at the University of California, San Diego from 2022-24. As a member of the Tritons, she ranked sixth in the Big West Conference in blocks per set (1.03) and eighth in total blocks (107) during the 2022 season. She became the first player in program history to surpass 100 blocks in a single season and was recognized on the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from UC San Diego.
Following her playing career, da Silva began her coaching career as a graduate assistant coach with the University of New Haven women's volleyball program. During her two seasons on staff, she helped guide the Chargers to an NCAA Division II Tournament appearance and assisted the program during its transition to NCAA Division I competition beginning in 2025.
In addition to her team responsibilities, da Silva played a key role in supporting student-athlete development and academic success. She worked closely with several award-winning players, including NE10 Player of the Week Sofia Kamke, NE10 Defensive Player of the Week Payton Malinoski, and NEC Defensive Player of the Week Naliah Grannell. She also contributed to a culture of academic excellence that saw New Haven produce a conference-leading 74 Academic Excellence honorees with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Da Silva has also gained valuable club coaching experience, serving as an assistant coach for the New Haven Volleyball Club Boys 18s team in 2024 and as a head coach within the club in 2025. She is set to coach with Downstate Volleyball Club during the upcoming season.
While completing her graduate assistantship at New Haven, da Silva earned a master's degree in Community Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health.
