October 19, 2000 -- The Marist College women's soccer team captured their eighth win of the season and their seventh shutout as they defeated conference rival Iona College 1-0. The Red Foxes advance to 8-6-1 on the season
The Red Foxes held the offensive edge in the first half taking control of the ball and posting nine shots on goal. The Gaels fought back in the second half but their defense could not stop junior midfielder Kasey Sibrinsz (Manchester, CT/Manchester) from netting the unassisted game winner at 66:51. In total Marist attempted thirteen shots on goal while Iona tallied eighteen. Sophomore goalkeeper Mellanie Nai (Suffield, CT/Suffield Academy), already ranked first in the league in save percentage, widened the gap by capturing her seventh shutout victory in fifteen outings by posting eleven saves. Iona goalkeeper Ronale McKenzie recorded six saves on the day.
The Red Foxes will return to action tomorrow at Colgate University and return home for their final game of the season on Sunday, October 22 against MAAC rival Fairfield University at 1:00 on Leonidoff Field.
