RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Despite a strong defensive effort and several quality looks at goal, the Marist women's soccer team dropped a 1–0 decision to Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon at Gaelic Park.
After 80 minutes of scoreless play, Manhattan broke through when Mayah Wheeler converted off an assist from Amaya Hill to give the Jaspers the late lead. The Red Foxes pressed for an equalizer in the closing minutes but were unable to find the back of the net.
Marist (5–6–4 overall, 4–1–4 MAAC) matched Manhattan's intensity throughout, holding the Jaspers to limited chances for much of the afternoon. Goalkeeper
Maddy Catalanotti finished with two saves in a composed performance, while
Gabby Tirado, Arianna Mullin,
Delia Hahn, and
Isabella Seibert each registered shots on goal for the Red Foxes.=
Marist returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Canisius for Senior Day at Tenney Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
