Baltimore, MD - The Marist College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to host Loyola today in Baltimore, MD. The Red Foxes lost the first game 30-20 before coming back to tie the match at 1-1 by winning the second game 30-25. Loyola then won the last two games 30-27 and 30-20 to earn the victory.
Senior Julie Gosewisch (Severna Park, MD), who knocked down a season high 18 kills to go along with 16 digs, paced the Red Fox attack. Marist also received good play from freshmen Aline dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Ryann Gillen (Paola, KS) and Courtney Pusko (Cheshire, Conn.). Santos recorded a double-double with 12 kills and a career high 18 digs, Gillen had 44 assists to go with eight kills in 12 attacks for a .583 hitting percentage and Pusko knocked down a career high 11 kills and had a .400 hitting percentage on the day.
Loyola received double-doubles from Mary Hamsher (19 kills, 14 digs) and Katie Brockwell (14 kills, 20 digs). Tera Blevins had 56 assists on the day while Krista Thorsen added 22 kills for the Greyhounds.
The Red Foxes will have a week off from play before playing again this weekend when they will face Niagara at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 20th and Canisius at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 21st. Both games will be played in the McCann Center.
