Men's Swimming Defeats Boston College in Season Opener, 193-44

Boston, Mass---The Marist College men's swimming and diving team (1-0) defeated Boston College in their season opener this afternoon, 193-44.

Double winners for the Red Foxes this afternoon was junior Mike Guman (Stratford, Conn), in the 1-meter dive (285.30), which was a new school record, and in the 3-meter dive (245.05). Both scores met the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) meet's qualifying standards. Senior David Dobbins (Greece, NY), was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.42), and in the 500-yard freestyle (4:53.69). Freshman Matt Castillo (Jamaica, NY), had a pair of wins in the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.48), and in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.21). Junior Ricky Kapusta (Stamford, Conn), claimed wins in the 50-yard freestyle (21.95), and in the 100-yard freestyle (48.43).

The Red Foxes will next compete against MAAC foe Rider University on Saturday, November 10th, at 1:00 pm, in Lawrenceville, NJ.
