POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - Audrey Bennett returned a fumble 78 yards for the
game-winning touchdown as Marist downed Siena, 14-7, on Saturday.
Bennett's fumble return with more than 10 minutes remaining in the third
quarter came just a play after Siena (1-8, 1-6 Metro Atlantic Athletic
Conference) got great field position after intercepting Marist quarterback
Kevin Bielen.
It was the third win in four games for Marist (3-6, 2-4), which started the
year 0-5.
The Red Foxes were dominant on defense all day, allowing just a 22-yard
touchdown pass from Chris Karolus to Joe Piascik in the first quarter.
The only offensive touchdown for the Red Foxes came four minutes after
Siena's. Bielen threw a 31-yard touchdown to J.R. Payne to tie the score 7-7.
Ike Ibeh tied a Marist school record for interceptions in a game by picking
off three Karolus passes in the first half.
