Poughkeepsie, NY--Marist College head men's swim coach Lary VanWagner, announced the signing of Joseph Pilewski (Lake Hopatcong, NY) and Brian Sankowski (Ballston Lake, NY) to National Letters of Intent. The two swimmers become the first members of the Class of 2006 for the men's swim team.

Pilewski, who currently attends Pop John XXIII High School, holds five school records, and was named All-League in Morris County as a junior. He is also a YMCA National qualifier in the butterfly and backstroke.

Sankowski is a student at Burnt Hills High School, where he holds the school record in five events. A six-time Eastern Zone qualifier, Sankowski finaled at the New York State High School Championships in the 100 yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley.

"Joe and Brian will both be valuable assets to the continued success of our swimming and diving program," said Van Wagner. "Both athletes will be mainstays in their primary events, while also having the versatility to help us throughout our lineup."
