New York, NY---Sophomore Adam Waterbury (Wallingford, CT) broke his own school record in the shot put to lead the Marist College men's track team at
Friday's Fordham Invitational, held at the Armory Track and Field Center in
Manhattan. Waterbury placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 14.27
meters (46 feet, 10 inches), which bettered his 2001 mark of 14.08 meters
(46 feet, 2.25 inches).
In the 5,000-meter run, sophomores Jason Grady (Clinton Corners, NY) and
Kirk Dornton (Syracuse, NY) ran their career-best times. Grady was seventh
in 15:25.57 and Dornton was 10th in 15:36.56.
In the 3,000 run, freshman Geoff Decker (Delmar, NY) placed 11th in an
all-time best of 9:01.84.
The 3,200-meter relay team of senior co-captain Pat Driscoll (Congers,
NY), freshman Chris Camp (Ballston Lake, NY), senior co-captain Mike Nehr
(West Babylon, NY) and junior Chris McCloskey (Hopewell Junction, NY) placed
sixth and broke the 8-minute barrier with a time of 7:59.61. Nehr (1:58.9)
and McCloskey (1:57.7) ran strong splits after placing well in the
1,000-meter run a short time before the relay.
The team returns to action next weekend at the Terrier Classic at Boston
University in Boston, MA. The meet will be contested on Friday and Saturday, January
25th-26th.
