Red Fox Men's Swimming and Diving Victorious Over Fordham, 138-91, While the Women Fall, 129-113

Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College swimming and diving team hosted Fordham University this evening, at the McCann Center Natatorium. The men (9-0) were victorious, 138-91, to extend their unbeaten streak on the season. The women (7-3) fell short in a close meet, 129-113.

Leading the way for the men's team were Nick Lakin (Fairport, NY), Matthew Castillo (Jamaica, NY), and Michael Guman (Stratford, Conn.). Lakin had a pair of wins in the 50-yard freestyle (22.08) and in the 100-yard freestyle (48.49). Castillo touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.36) and in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.93). On the boards, Guman was victorious on both the 1-meter (266.85) and 3-meter (263.18) dives.

In the women's competition, Jennifer Gelsomino (Harrison, NY) went unbeaten on the night, with double victories in the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.86) and in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.04). Missy Gifford (Glens Falls, NY) swept the diving events, capturing the 1-meter (219.00) and 3-meter (232.28) dives.

The Red Foxes next take on the University of Rhode Island this Saturday, January 26th, in Kingston, RI. The swimming and diving action is set to begin at 2:00 p.m..
