Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College men's and women's swim team were victorious in a tri-meet featuring the Fairfield University Stags and the St. Peter's Peahens today at the McCann Center Natatorium. The Red Fox men beat the Stags 128-88, while winning their meet against the Peahens, 138-13. Marist is now 4-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), extending their conference unbeaten streak to 43-0, and are 5-0 on the season. On the women's side, Marist defeated Fairfield 123-108, and St. Peter's 131-47, putting the Red Foxes 4-0 in the MAAC and 4-1 on the season.
In the men's events, senior Ricky Kapusta (Stamford, Conn.) won the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.17, beating out teammate Matthew Miller (Woodbridge, VA) who placed second in a time of 1:51.70. In the 50 yard freestyle, junior Trevor Charles (Middletown, Conn.) won in a time of 22.33. Senior Joe Murin (Queensbury, NY) won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.18. In diving, Dan Cerasale (Meridan, Conn.) won the 3-meter dive over teammate Anthony Manza (Brooklyn, NY), who placed second.
In the women's events, junior Jen Meyer (Fairport, NY) was a multiple event winner, taking the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 25.88 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.76 beating out Fairfield's Kelly Steele by a hundredth of a second. Sophomore Emily Heslin (Allendale, NJ) won the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:11.78. In diving, Amy Van De Carr (Rhinebeck, NY) won the 1-meter dive over teammate Missy Gifford (Glens Falls, NY), who placed second.
The Red Foxes return to action December 6th and 7th when they travel to Baltimore, MD to compete in a quad-meet with MAAC rivals Loyola and Niagara, with non-conference opponent Colgate also taking part.
