Edison, NJ-The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) named Marist women's soccer senior defender Jenny Shanks (Sound Beach, NY) to the All-MAAC First Team, it was announced today. Red Fox freshman defender Amanda Kulik (Kinnelon, NJ) earned a spot on the All-MAAC Rookie Team.
Co-captain Shanks started all 19 games this season for the Red Foxes, playing solid defense while contributing to the offense, producing 13 shots on net. She has also contributed to the teams five shutouts this season.
In 2001, Shanks was named to the All-MAAC First Team and CoSIDA/Verizon District I Academic All-America when she recorded a team high six assists. She currently ranks in the top ten All-Time in goals (5), assists (7), and total points (17).
In her first season with the Red Foxes, Kulik has played solid defense, helping Marist stay competitive in every game. She played in 18 games, while starting seven, contributing six shots on offense. Defensively, she helped the team to a 2.17 Goals Against Average (GAA) for the season.
The Red Foxes concluded their season on Sunday, November 3rd, finishing with a 3-13-3 overall record and 2-5-2 in MAAC play.
