Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College women's basketball team fell to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rival, Loyola, 68-61 in overtime tonight at the McCann Center. Loyola now leads the series 10-9 overall. Marist is 2-2 overall, 0-1 in MAAC play.
The Red Foxes were down 19 at the half, then fell to a 23 deficit early in the second before making a comeback with eight minutes remaining. Junior Maureen Magarity (Wappingers Falls, NY) sent the game into overtime with a lay-up with only three-tenths of a second remaining in the game.
Junior forward Stephanie Del Preore (Livingston, NJ) reached the 500-career point plateau with a 21-point effort, finishing with 514, while also recording her eighth career double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds. After recording only one point in the first half, Magarity finished with 23 points, tying her career-high.
Sophomore center, Kristin Keller (Millbrook, NY) led the team with six assists, while grabbing eight rebounds. Megan Vetter (Havertown, PA) had five steals in the game while going 2-2 from the free throw line.
The Red Foxes return to action Tuesday, December 10th, when they travel to MAAC foe Fairfield for a 7:30 tip-off at Bridgeport Arena.
