Jersey City, NJ---The Marist College men's tennis team (10-6) defeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe, Saint Peter's College (5-3), 5-2, earlier this afternoon. With the victory the Red Foxes also improve to 4-0 against league opponents on the season.
In singles play, at number one singles, Patrick Hofer (Falkenweg, Austria) defeated Alex Taunean, 6-4, 6-2. At number two singles Michael Sowter (Perth, Australia) edged out Slobodon Djukic in a difficult three set match, winning 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. David Slater (St. Alban's, UK) went unbeaten at number three singles against Frank Strangeman, 6-3, 6-3, while Viktor Sapezhnikov (Brooklyn, NY) captured the win at number four singles against Patrick Mausukevich, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. Michael Nassif (Ames, IA) took the remaining singles victory, as he defeated Alex Wampolsky at number six singles, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, the number three doubles twosome of Patrick Dahnert (Scottsdale, AZ) and Nassif won easily over the duo of Pablo Maristany and Wampolsky, 8-1.
The Red Foxes return to action in the Paseo Classic, taking place March 22-31, in Arizona.
