Red Foxes Open Rebel Games With Losses to Jacksonville State 6-1, and Army 8-2

Winter Garden, FL - Marist College opened play in the Rebel Games this afternoon with losses to Jacksonville State, 6-1 and Army 8-2 at the Osceola County Sports Complex.

In the first game of the day against Jacksonville State (21-5), the Red Foxes (0-9) fell behind 3-0 before freshman Nichole Rawson (Palmdale, CA) put them on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the third. Jacksonville State then added three runs in the sixth to end the scoring. Sophomore Bobbi Jo Gonnello (Clifton, NJ) had a double and single and Rawson also added a single in the first for Marist. Junior pitcher Nicole Fox (Temecula, CA) (0-4) was on the losing end for the Red Foxes.

Army (9-7) jumped out to an early lead in the second game with three runs in each of the first and second innings. The Black Knights also added runs in the fourth and fifth before Marist crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fifth and seventh innings. The Marist offensive was supplied by freshman Bryanne Thitchener (Poughkeepsie, NY) who had two hits and knocked in junior Amy Angus (Wolcott, CT) twice. Junior Kathleen McEvily (White Plains, NY) also had two hits for the Red Foxes. Rawson (0-3) was the losing pitcher for Marist.

Action at the Rebel Games continues tomorrow Tuesday, March 26th with the Red Foxes taking the field at 4:10 PM against Central Florida.
