Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College men's tennis team defeated Fairfield University 7-0 in their first game of the MAAC Tournament.

In the doubles competition, at first doubles the team of Patrick Hofer (Falkenweg, Austria) and Martin Aldorsson (Kungsbacka, SWE) defeated Torrence and Fennell, 8-4. At number two doubles the Red Fox twosome of Michael Sowter (Perth, Australia) and David Slater (St. Alban's, UK) beat Theile and Nyarady., 8-2. At number three doubles the duo of Viktor Sapezhnikov (Brooklyn, NY) and Nick Bass (C'sted, St.Croix), topped Rudden and Casoleri, 8-6.

In singles play Hofer captured first singles over Torrence, 6-1, 6-4. At number two singles Sowter beat Fennell, 3-0, default. At number three singles Slater topped Nyarady, 6-1, 6-3. Aldorsson won easily over Casularo at number four singles, 6-3, 6-1. Sapezhnikov claimed the win over Theile at number five singles, 6-0. 6-3. At number six singles Patrick Dahnert (Scottsdale, AZ) beat Rudden, 6-0, 6-0.

The Red Foxes will take on Saint Peter's College, at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
