Red Foxes Fall at Sacred Heart 18-10 in Men's Lacrosse

Fairfield, CT - The Marist College Men's Lacrosse team fell to host Sacred Heart 18-10 earlier today in Fairfield, CT. The Red Foxes fall to 3-8 on the season with the non-conference loss.

Freshman Dan Kushner (Southington, CT) started the scoring on the day with a goal at 14:14 in the first, putting Marist ahead 1-0. The Pioneers the reeled off 10 straight goals to close out the quarter and take a 10-1 lead after the first.

Marist then added four goals in the third to Sacred Heart's five to leave the score at 15-5 after three quarters off play. The Red Foxes won the fourth stanza 5-3 to provide the final margin.

Sophomore Brian Diele (Stewart Manor, NY) led the way for Marist with four goals and an assist, including two four quarter scores. The Red Foxes also received two goals and two assists from junior Pat Scully (Longmeadow, MA).

TJ Hutmacher tailed four goals and two assist to lead the Pioneers, while teammate Mike Robel supplied a two goal, four assist effort.

Sacred Heart held a 45-27 advantage in shots taken and also won 20 of 32 face-offs in the game. Marist won groundballs, 34-27, but was 0-7 with the extra man compared to Sacred Hearts 3-9 conversion with the extra man.

Juniors Brian Schumeyer (Farmingdale, NY) and Ben Gildea (Shoreham, NY) combined to make 19 saves in goal for the Red Foxes, while Bryan Campo stopped six shots in goal for the Pioneers

Marist will return to action on Wednesday, April 24th at 4:00 PM when they play host to Lafayette on Leonidoff Field
