Baltimore, MD---The Marist College men's tennis team (12-7), defeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponent Loyola, 7-0, this afternoon, going unbeaten in all singles and doubles matches.
At number one singles Patrick Hofer (Falkenweg, Austria) defeated John McConnell, 6-3, 6-3. At number two singles Michael Sowter (Perth, Australia) was victorious over John Glowacki 6-2, 6-4. David Slater (St. Alban's, UK) won easily at number three singles against Brian Johnson, 6-0, 6-0. Martin Aldorsson (Kungsbacka, SWE) captured the victory at number four singles over Nick Bowers, 6-3, 6-3. At number five singles Viktor Sapezhnikov (Brooklyn, NY) beat Dan Schiemel, 6-0, 6-3. Patrick Dahnert (Scottsdale, AZ) earned the win at number six singles against Ryan Bradley, 6-0, 6-1.
In the doubles competition, the number one doubles twosome of Hofer and Aldorsson edged out their opponents, 8-2. At number two doubles Sowter and Slater posted the win, 8-2. The number three doubles duo of Dahnert and Nassif had the victory, 8-6.
The Red Foxes return to action tomorrow, as they host the University of Rhode Island. The match is set to begin at 12 noon.
