Poughkeepsie, NY- Marist College senior football player Juwan Jackson (Madison, NJ) was named to the Sports Network I-AA Mid-Major All-America First Team. A member of the Red Foxes offensive line, Jackson helped spearhead the Red Foxes 7-4 season in 2002.
A graduate of Madison High School, Jackson served as one of the Red Foxes team captains this year, starting in all 11 games at center. He was the catalyst behind the record setting offensive performance that Marist had in a win over LaSalle on November 9th. Behind Jackson and the offensive line that afternoon Marist set a new school record with 509 rushing yards, and totaled a new total yard record with 592. Jackson also helped open holes for two Red Fox running backs to scored three touchdowns each in that 49-23 win.
On the year, Jackson was a driving force in the offensive effort, leading Marist to an average of 331 yards of total offense a game. The Red Foxes saw much success on the ground behind Jackson and his mates, for 2,524 yards and 29 touchdowns on the year.
Jackson is a two-time First Team All-MAAC player for the Red Foxes and was a pre-season Mid-Major All-America selection.
The seven wins tied the Red Foxes school record for wins in a season at the varsity level, while Marist tied for second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic (MAAC) Football League, going 5-3 in those games.
