Baltimore, MD - The Red Foxes would receive win #12 tonight and their second consecutive win for the weekend as they defeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Loyola tonight in five game. Marist improves to 12-19 surpassing last years record by two games while moving to a 4-3 record in the conference.
The Red Foxes would take the first game with a 30-28 victory, however keep fans guessing by dropping the next two games 30-28, 30-28. Marist would not go down in flames fighting for the final two wins for a 30-22 and a 19-17 final.
Freshman middle blocker Sally Hanson (Guerneville, CA/ El Molino) led the Red Foxes attack with 16 kills, and four aces while senior middle blocker Christina Brozek (Fairlawn, NJ/Fairlawn) earned a game high .480 hitting percentage behind 15 kills three errors, two aces and seven total blocks.
Junior setter Amy Gillespie (Lebo, KS/ NE Oklahoma A&M) posted her second double double for the weekend with 15 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore setter Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA/El Dorado) earned her 1000 assist after chipping in 48 assists on the game to give her 1032 on the year. Sophomore Kaite Lux (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) would lead the Red Foxes defense earning a team high 17 digs on the game.
The Red Foxes will look to continue their streak on Saturday, November 1st when they host MAAC opponent Canisius at 1:00pm in the McCann Center.
