Red Foxes Pound Rider 6-0 In Men's Tennis

Lawrenceville, NJ--The Marist College men's tennis team improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play this afternoon, as they defeated host Rider, 6-0. The Red Foxes dominated singles play, not losing a single match, and never giving up more than four games in a match. Doubles play was suspended due to darkness and with the outcome of the match already decided.

Our Lady of Lourdes graduate, (Poughkeepsie, NY), a Marist rookie, swept his fourth singles match, 6-0, 6-0 over Andrey Dragun. (Abington, PA) won his fifth singles match handily, defeating Mike Greenberg 6-0, 6-1, and captured the number six singles match, 6-1, 6-0 over Neil McConnell.

(Chepachet, RI) would play what turned out to be the closest match of the afternoon at number one singles. After winning set one, 6-1, Santucci put away Chris Stanco, 6-4 in the second set to earn the win.

provided Marist with the point at number two singles, as he defeated Frank Ruggiero by a score of 6-1, 6-1. wrapped up the Marist shutout at number three singles, as he defeated Elliot Eiche 6-0, 6-2.

The Red Foxes are off for eight days, before returning to action next weekend at the Region I Omni Championships. The four-day event runs from October 17th, Friday, through Monday October 20th, in Ithaca, NY.
