Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College men's and women's swimming and diving team continued their MAAC win streak as they defeated visiting Fairfield and St. Peter's this afternoon at the McCann Center Natatorium. The men are now 49-0 overall while the women improve to 3-2 on the year.
Marist swept the 1650 yard freestyle as junior Emily Heslin (Allendale, NJ/Arch Bishop), senior Karen Finnerty (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) and sophomore Jamie Cannata (Higganum, CT/Haddam) took first, second and third respectively.
The Red Foxes also swept the 1-meter diving as senior Amber VanDeCarr (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinebeck), freshman Anna Sanner (Somerset, PA/Somerset) and sophomore Meghan Duffy (Chesire, CT/UNH) finished first second and third respectively. VanDeCarr and Duffy would also claim first and second place in the 3-meter diving event.
Senior Kristen Schnitzer (Bronxville, NY/Ursuline) was a double winner clocking a 26:42 in the 50 freestyle and they again in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:25.48. Junior Jennifer Gelsomino (Harrison, NY/Ursuline) took first in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:40.28. Heslin would also collect a first place finish in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 55.70.
The Red Foxes will make their next splash on December 5th at the Colgate Invitational.
