Fairfield, CT - The Marist College men's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 win at Fairfield on Thursday. The Red Foxes improve to 15-2 on the season, with a 5-0 record in the MAAC, while the Stags fall to 9-6 overall, and 4-2 in the conference.
In singles play, Patrick Hofer (Villach, Austria) won in straight sets over Stephen Kouri, 6-4, 6-3. Chris Hagen (Oslo, Norway) defeated Colin Torrance 6-0, 6-2, while David Slater (St. Alban's, England) won easily over Kevin Nyarady, 6-1, 6-1. Mark Santucci (Chepachet, RI) rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Michael Theile, and Martin Aldorsson (Kungsbacka, Sweden) won by the same score over Christian Bangert. Michael Nassif (Ames, IA) rounded out the sweep in singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Adam Belardino.
Marist won all three doubles matches, led by the duo of Hofer and Aldorsson edging Kouri and Torrance, 8-6. Hagen and Santucci defeated Nyarady and Bangert, 8-4, while Slater and Alain Boletta (Abington, PA) cruised to an 8-3 win over Theile and Belardino.
The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, April 12th, when they travel to Buffalo, NY for a conference match with Canisius, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
