Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College women's tennis team defeated conference rival Manhattan, 6-1 this afternoon. The Red Foxes are now 9-3 overall and 4-2 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

In doubles, Diana Perachio (Newtown, Conn.) and Yana Tikhonko (Brooklyn, NY) lost to Courtney James and Mary Jane McGuire, 8-5. Courtney McGeever (Wickliffe, OH) and Colleen Kelly (Poughkeepsie, NY) defeated Shaleen Dastar and Katie Cummings, 8-5. Lastly, Tara Dolan (Hopewell Junction, NY) and Kathryn Szymanski (Scituate, Mass.) blanked Renee Leotta and Hannah Taylor-Noren, 8-0.

In singles competition, Tikhonko lost to James, 6-2, 7-5 (10-8), while Perachio defeated McGuire, 6-2, 6-1. Dolan walked past Dastar, 7-6 (7-0), 6-0 in her singles match and McGeever rolled past Cummings, 6-0, 6-1. Kelly defeated Taylor-Noren, 6-1, 6-0, and Szymanski won 6-1, 6-0 over Leotta.

The Red Foxes return to action Sunday, April 13th, when they host conference foe St. Peter's at 12:00 p.m.
