Philadelphia, PA-Two of Marist men's track athletes finished strong at the Penn Relays yesterday evening. Kirk Dornton (Syracuse, NY) placed 16th in the 10,000-meters, the highest finish for a Red Fox runner in school history, while Geoffrey Decker (Delmar, NY) ran to a personal-best in the 5,000-meters.
In the 10K, Dornton broke the school record by ten seconds and also ran a personal-best with a time of 30:38.82. The old mark was set at the Penn Relays in 2000 by Greg Salamone who finished in a time of 30:48.01. In the 5K, Decker placed 30th with a time of 15:16.45, breaking his own personal-best time by nine seconds.
The Red Foxes continue racing at the Penn Relays on Friday, April 25th, before heading to the Yale Invitational on Sunday, April 27th.
