Men's Tennis Sweeps Loyola, 7-0

Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College men's tennis team swept MAAC opponent Loyola, 7-0, at the Dutchess Racquet Club in Poughkeepsie on Saturday. The Red Foxes improve to 13-2 on the season, and are 4-0 in MAAC play.

In singles action, Patrick Hofer (Villach, Austria) defeated John McConnell 3-6, 6-0 (10-5). Chris Hagen (Oslo, Norway) won his match over Dan Schiemel 6-2, 6-0, while Michael Nassif (Ames, IA) never lost a game in his 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ryan Bradley. David Slater (St. Alban's, England) rolled over Nick Bowers 6-1, 6-3, and Martin Aldorsson (Kungsbacka, Sweden) defeated Jonathon Falcichio 6-2, 7-5. Mark Santucci (Chepachet, RI) rounded out the perfect day in singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over John Laramie.

Marist swept the three doubles matches, led by the team of Hofer and Aldorsson defeating McConnell and Laramie 8-3. Hagen and Santucci won 8-2 over Schiemel and Bowers, while Slater and Viktor Sapezhnikov (Brooklyn, NY) cruised to an 8-1 decision over Bradley and Wessinger.

The Red Foxes return to action on Sunday when they travel to Kingston, RI to take on the University of Rhode Island, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
