Providence, RI - During the second day of competition at the Brown Invitational the men's tennis team has battled on the court to finishing with eight wins and four losses.
Senior Chris Hagen (Oslo, Norway/College of the Desert) dueled in a marathon match against Brown's number two player Adil Shamasdin. The match was well received in front of the largest crowd of the day, however, Hagen would drop to Shamasdin 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
Sophomore Mark Santucci (Chepachet, RI/Ponaganset) dropped to Army's John Houghten but claimed victorious against Matt Stop of Assumption. Freshman Ray Josephs dropped his first match to Manhattan, but rallied against Ray Spring of Vermont for the win.
Junior Michael Nassif (Ames, Iowa/Ames) claimed two wins by default while freshman Frank Algier (Poughkeepsie, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) collected two wins against Vermont and Princeton. Finishing up the singles action Alain Boletta (Abington, PA/Abington) posted a win against Vermont while classmate Jeff Nguyen (San Diego, CA/Point Loma) posted a win against Vermont and Boston University.
In doubles action Santucci and Josephs defeated Manhattan while Hagen and Nguyen collected wins against Boston College and Harvard. Nassif and Boletta were defeated in a tiebreaker against Vermont.
The Men's Tennis team will compete in the final day of the Brown Invitational tomorrow.
