The Marist men's tennis team defeated UConn this afternoon, 7-0, improving its record to 4-0 on the season. The Red Foxes have yet to give up a match to an opponent in dual meet play, going a perfect 7-0 in each of their four wins.
In first singles, Pedro Genovese handily defeated Matt Stinson, 6-2, 6-1 while his doubles teammate, freshman Leonardo Rodriguez took out Brian Ravesloot, 6-2, 6-4 in second singles. Junior captain Mark Santucci defeated Mason Viau, 6-3, 6-0 in third singles while Ray Josephs took out Sam Sutherland, 6-3, 6-0 in the fourth matchup.
Brendon Van Wasbeck picked up a fifth singles win over Christian Malerba, 6-0, 6-2 while Frank Algier defeated Sho Sato, 6-3, 6-4 in sixth singles.
On the doubles side, Genovese and Algier took out Ravesloot and Viau, 8-4 in first doubles. Santucci and Van Wasbeck downed Malerba and Sutherland, 8-4 in second doubles while Josephs and Jeff Nguyen defeated Stinson and Sato, 8-3 in the third matchup.
The Red Foxes, now 4-0 on the season, will be in action again on Oct. 21-24 when they travel to the Omni Regional Tournament at Virginia Tech.
