Baltimore, Md. - The Marist men's swimming and diving team (5-0, 4-0 MAAC) leads all three opponents at the H2ounds Invitational, hosted by Loyola, after Day 1 of the two-day meet. The Red Foxes lead non-conference foe Colgate 60-33, Loyola 59-33 and Niagara 78-14. Marist picked up wins in the 1650 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay.
Sophomore Nick Chevalier won the long-distance event in 16:38.82, nearly eight seconds ahead of Colgate's Rich Derrick. Freshman Ralph Rienzo took third in 16:54.41.
The 200 free relay squad of Chevalier, sophomore Patrick Collins, freshman Greg Jablonski and senior co-captain Jeffrey Paul won in a time of 1:26.69, .54 seconds faster than an entry from Loyola.
Senior co-captain Matthew Castillo and Jablonski took second and third, respectively, in the 400 individual medley while freshmen Jesus Santos and Devon O'Nalty took second and third on the 1-meter diving platform.
The meet resumes at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.
