Men's Lacrosse Power Past Mount St. Mary's 9-5

The Marist College men's lacrosse team earned its second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Lacrosse League game with a 9-4 victory over Mount St. Mary's this afternoon on Leonidoff field. With the win the Red Foxes improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the MAAC.

Taking a slim 4-3 lead into the third period, the Red Foxes exploded for four goals in the quarter to put the Mountaineers away. Brian Diele began the scoring drive at the 7:48 mark tallying back-to-back goals. Diele finished the day with a game-high four goals. Freshman Keith Detelj added a goal at the 3:05 mark. The Mountaineers broke up the scoring run on an unassisted goal by Eric Seifert, but Marist answered with :39 left in the period as Tim Iuculano connected with Josh Ben-Eliyahu.

The Red Foxes shutout Mount St. Mary's in the final period, while Ben-Eliyahu tallied his second goal of the game this time off of a pass from Andrew Walsh.

Mount opened the scoring at the 7:21 mark in the first period on a goal by Tilghman Herring. Marist went on to score the next four goals over a period in a half, making the score 4-1. The Mountaineers answered in the second period as Billy Jautze netted back-to-back goals with just under two minutes remaining.

In net, Steve Gravino 14 saves, while Mount's Dan Whitehurst made 10 saves.

The Red Foxes return to action on Wednesday, March 31st at 7:00pm as they travel to Lehigh.
