Baseball Drops 14-5 Decision To Lamar In Season Opener

In a game delayed due to fog Friday evening, the Marist College baseball team dropped its first game of a three-game series with Lamar 14-5.

Marist trailed 8-0 before putting up two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth. Lamar added six runs in the bottom of the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Keith Brachold led the Red Foxes offensive effort with a 3-4 day, including two RBU. Andy Kiriakedes also had two RBI for the Red Foxes, as he went 1-3. Chris Watters was 2-4 for Marist and Eric Johnson was 1-5 with a run scored. Kevin Grauer scored twice for Marist and Travis Musolf added a run and an RBI.

Lucas Robinson fell to 0-2 as he allowed six runs, five earned in 4.0 innings of work. He struck out five while walking none in the effort. Jonathan allowed one run, unearned in an inning of work, before Bobby Hastry allowed five runs on five hits in his inning of work. Kevin Kelly tossed the final two innings, giving up four hits and two runs.
