Baseball Swept By Lamar, Falling 7-0 In Sunday Finale

The Marist college baseball team dropped its third game to Lamar, 7-0, on Sunday, falling to 2-7 on the year. The trip marked the third consecutive weekend the Red Foxes have traveled south of the Mason-Dixon line for games.

Marist starter Scott Chambers had s solid outing, as he fanned seven batteres in 5.2 innings of work. In that time he allowed six runs all earend on 10 hits. Brian Krummenacker tossed 1.1 hitless and scoreless innings and Rob Ryan allowed a run on three hits in his inning of work.

The Red Foxes managed just six hits on the day, and were shutout for the third time. Justin Lepore led the way for Marist with a pair of hits, while four others, including MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Keith Brachold had a base hit.

Lamar received all the runs it would need in its first at bat, putting up two runs on two hits. Lamar then added a run in the third and fourth innings; two runs in the sixth and an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth. Lamar had 13 base hits on the afternoon.

Marist returns to action next weekend as it travels to the University of Delaware for a three-game set, March 12-14th.
