Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College baseball team earned a 16-14 non-conference win this afternoon, defeating Hofstra University on the McCann Baseball Field. Besides the 30 runs, the two teams combined for 36 hits, used nine pitchers, walked 11 times, struck out eight times and committed four errors.
The two teams exchanged two run first-innings, before Hofstra (11-25) scored a run in the second, third and fourth frames, to take a 5-2 lead. Marist (17-21) answered in the bottom of the fourth inning, putting up seven runs. After a scoreless fifth-inning, both teams added a run in the sixth, before Marist took a 15-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs. The Pride answered in the next at-bat, plating eight, but Marist answered with a run in the bottom of the eighth and did not allow a run in the ninth for the win.
Peter Fuller (1-2) earned the win for the Red Foxes, allowing five runs on 1- hits in his 4.0 innings of work. He fanned three and walked only one in his outing. Rob Ryan finished the game, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing two hits, walking two and allowing two runs. Kevin Shurtleff tossed 3.1 innings for Marist, giving up seven runs on eight hits, striking out one.
Scott Bisco (0-1) took the loss for the Pride, going 3.1 innings, and allowing six runs, four earned on five hits and walking two. Six Pride hurlers allowed 16 runs, 11 earned, on 16 hits, walking six and striking out three in the outing.
Andy Kiriakedes had a hot bat for the Red Foxes, going 3-4 with three RBI, two runs and a double. Kevin Buck went 3-5 for the Reed Foxes with a double, while Justin Lepore was 1-4 with a homerun. Keith Brachold was 2-5 with two RBI, and Jimmy Board posted a 2-3, three runs scored day for Marist. Tyler Brock and Bryan Towler both had two hits, two RBI and two runs in the win for Marist.
Josh Stern was 4-5, with five RBI and two homeruns for the Pride. Ricky Caputo, Mike Perullo, and Mike Walsh all had three hits, with Caputo adding three RBI and scoring three runs.

The Red Foxes boarded a bus following the game to travel to Vermont for a Wednesday game with the Catamounts of the University of Vermont.
