Worcester, MA- The Marist College men's crew team had a solid final day at the ECAC National Invitational on Lake Quinsigamond earning two second place finishes The Red Foxes also rowed to two fifth place marks. Point totals have not yet been calculated and will be posted as soon as they become available.
After winning their heat, the men's second varsity eight advanced to the Grand Final where they placed second clocking a time of 6:17.133, less than one second behind winner Michigan (6:16.813).
The varsity four placed second in the petite final in a time of 7:04.239. Marist finished ahead of Union College (7:07.491), Clark (7:07.809), and Colgate (7:17.409).
The varsity eight rowed their fastest time of the day in the grand final, but could not come away with the victory in a very tight race. The Red Foxes pulled in fifth place (6:04.043). Marist was edged by Williams College (6:03.900), which finished fourth, few hundredths of a second behind the University of Rhode Island (6:03.087) who took third. The University of North Carolina won the event in 5:59.788.
After rowing to a third place finish in their heat yesterday, the novice eight finished in fifth place in the petite final clocking a time of 6:38.326. UNC took the event in 6:26.308.
Marist is back on the water June 3-5th as they compete at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta held in Camden, New Jersey.
