Buffalo, NY - Senior center Kristin Keller (Poughkeepsie, NY) led all scorers with 19 points as the Marist women's basketball team (12-6, 6-3 MAAC) earned its sixth consecutive win by defeating host Canisius 65-62 tonight at the Koessler Athletic Center. Junior forward Fifi Camara (Conakry, Guinea) had her seventh double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and hauling in 13 rebounds.
Keller was two for two from beyond the arc and also added three blocks and a steal to go with her 19 points. Camara blocked three shots and collected four steals.
Senior guard Megan Vetter (Havertown, PA) scored 12 points, including two late free throws that sealed the win for the Red Foxes. She also tallied five rebounds in the contest. Sophomore guard Alisa Kresge (Holmdel, NJ) had a team-leading six assists to go along with five points.
Guard Becky Zak led the Golden Griffins, who were the last team to defeat Marist, on January 8 at the McCann Center, with 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Guard Jessie Lamparski had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Megan Lyte added 10 points and nine rebounds.
With the win, the Red Foxes move into a tie for second place with Canisius, Loyola and Siena in the MAAC at 6-3. Marist is back in action Sunday at first-place Niagara (7-2 MAAC). Game time is 1 p.m.
