Another double-double from junior Stephanie Miksch (Austin, Texas) propelled the Marist volleyball team to a 3-1 victory at Loyola this afternoon. Miksch led all players with 19 kills along with 10 digs to pace her squad. Senior Meghan also recorded a double-double with 49 assists and 10 digs.
After winning a close game one, 30-27, the Red Foxes got to work quickly in game two, winning 30-20 and holding the Greyhounds to -.103 hitting. Loyola made things interesting with a 38-36 victory in game three and held on late in game four before Marit won 34-32.
Miksch's classmates Sally Hanson (Guerneville, Calif.) and Jaime Kenworthy (Aston, Pa.) recorded 14 kills each while fellow junior Kim McEathron (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) tallied 15 digs. Katie Lux (Wantagh, N.Y.) also had 15 digs to lead Marist, who out-dug Loyola 75-56 as a team.
Middle blockers Christy Lukes (Mesa, Ariz.) and Jackie Poston (Huntingtown, Md.) each picked up seven blocks while combining for 13 kills.
Christine Lopez and Becky Corb each had 15 kills for Loyola while Jamie Arndt and Christina Greenup recorded 14 digs apiece.
The Red Foxes improved to 8-18 (2-5 MAAC) on the season while the Greyhounds dropped to 7-22 (1-6 MAAC).
Marist plays its final two matches of the season this weekend when it hosts Manhattan on Friday night and St. Peter's on Saturday.
