Baltimore, Md. - The Marist women's swimming and diving team is set to compete at the 2005 MAAC Championships this week at Loyola. The Red Foxes aim to defend their conference crown and win for the fourth time in the past six years and the seventh time in the last nine.
The Red Foxes went 8-3 this season, 7-0 in the MAAC. Four school records were set during competition this year, including both diving records. Freshman Melissa Mangona (1 meter) and junior Meghan Duffy (3 meter) set those records in Marist's last dual meet, a 123-120 loss to Seton Hall. Duffy has also qualified for the ECAC Diving Championships and the NCAA Zone meet later this season. Freshman Jamie Falco set the 100 backstroke school record in her second collegiate competition and first career dual meet while sophomore Lauren Malski lowered her own mark in the 200 breaststroke in the win over Iona on November 16, setting an unofficial conference record in the process.
The MAAC Championships will be held Thurs.-Sat., Feb. 17-19 with each day's competition beginning at 10 a.m.
