Kingston, N.Y. - The Marist men's lacrosse team (1-3) fell tonight to visiting Colgate by the score of 11-7 at Dietz Stadium. Junior Tim Iuculano scored four goals for the Red Foxes while classmate Bill Duerr tallied the other three.
Iuculano scored all three of Marist's goals in the first half as the Red Foxes went into the intermission trailing 5-3. Duerr and Iuculano each scored within the first two minutes of the third quarter to tie the score, and Duerr's second goal with 7:03 remaining in the third quarter gave Marist a 6-5 lead.
The Raiders were not to be denied, however, scoring the next five goals and coasting to the 11-7 victory. Brendan Hurley had four goals and two assists for Colgate while Matt Lalli had two goals and four assists.
Mike McGuire and Andrew Walsh had two assists apiece for the Red and White while Duerr had one of his own.
Junior Stephen Gravino made 10 saves for Marist while Andrew Jarolimek recorded 12 for Colgate. Both teams had great success transitioning from defense to offense as the Red Foxes and Raiders combined to go 25 for 25 on clear attempts.
The Red Foxes are back in action this Saturday, April 2 when they host MAAC rival Manhattan in their season debut at Leonidoff Field. Game time is 7 p.m.
