Marist Leads MAAC With 15 All-Academic Selections

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Marist men's outdoor track and field team had 15 student-athletes named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, the conference office announced this weekend. The Red Foxes had the most honorees of any MAAC school. To be eligible, a student-athlete must complete two semesters and their institution and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Seniors honored were Chris Camp (3.39, Information Technology), Will Colucci (3.67, Criminal Justice), Geoff Decker (3.45, Communications), Mike Guarascio (3.78, Information Technology), Steve Hicks (3.75, Biology), Nate Parenti (3.54, BA/Finance), Eric Stelz (3.57, BA/Finance) and Patrick Taylor (3.25, Political Science/Public Affairs).

Rob DeAngelo (3.25, BA/Finance), Sean Prinz (3.47, English) and Bryan VanSteenbergen (3.76, Communications) represented the juniors.

Four sophomores earned the honor in their first years of eligibility: Todd Bivona (3.78, Communications), Scott LaPiedra (3.24, Criminal Justice), Alex Soter (3.22, Criminal Justice) and Matt Walsh (3.48, Communications).

Marist placed fourth of five teams this weekend at the MAAC Outdoor Championships at Rider.
