Marist head coach Brian Giorgis:
On the game overall:
It's a good win. We had a great first half, I think it was our best shooting percentage in a half all year. We had them shooting deep in the shot clocks, a couple of 30-second violations and the shots they were getting were tough shots.
On utilizing his bench/team effort:
It was good to be able to get the bench in. Overall it was a great team
effort. It is nice to get a lot of people in. A lot of our girls want more playing time. This was an opportunity to get in and show us what they can do. I don't think that the kids want to relax at all and not play well because they know that there is someone looking over her shoulder.
Upcoming schedule/Manhattan game:
We are going to be challenged our next three games. (Manhattan) gets after you, they really play hard. Theirs is a tough place to play. Fortunately we broke that curse last year.
This is a very balanced league. We've gotten off to a good start and now we've got to continue it and keep this going.
Sophomore forward Sarah Smrdel:
On her play off the bench this season:
It's a good feeling to know that I can come in and give Fifi and Meg a rest and have us not lose the intensity at all.
Redshirt-sophomore center Meg Dahlman:
On her defensive effort:
I like blocking shots.
On Marist's inside play and the team effort:
We knew it'd be a big game for us inside. We definitely were able to take advantage. A win like this is an adrenaline rush; especially with how many great contributions we got. It was a great team win.
Senior forward Fifi Camara:
On her overall effort tonight:
I don't care if I score 40 points, 30 points or 2, if everyone is
contributing, I am happy.
It is very important to keep up our defense. We are still working on our defense every day. Our defense will bring our offense.
Rider Assistant Coach Brian Johnson:
On Rider's season:
We've had a tough season. But were going to go back and work hard. There's still more conference games and more home games left on the schedule.
On 9 player rotation leading to tired players:
No, not really. They have been conditioning since the summer. We're a little banged up and have had some injuries. We're a little thin on the inside. We have guards playing post defense.
